Our streets is chaos when all the people from the mosque park on our street often blocking our drive ways. When I have my trailer there’s no way to get into your drive way when they park so close to your driveway either end and there’s cars parked on the other side of the street. I spoke to Deana Scheerhoorn the Traffic engineer for the Marion council about my concerns. She spoke in a condescending manner probably because had to do some work. She thinks there is no issues with the parking in our neighborhood so nothing will be done. I asked why does the mosque get to have no parking in front of their property and she said they can because of safety issues with traffic. So basically they are pushing the traffic dangers out in the neighborhood. I challenged her to come to my property and demonstrate if an RV or a car with a trailer can safely enter and exit when all the cars are everywhere which of coarse she refused. She said our side streets are huge and we should just reverse in if things are tight. I asked if I had a RV and I needed to get out of my driveway because of an emergency then what? I have no right to exist in a life threatening situation? Her reply was, “I’m not going to talk about “Hypotheticals”. And then no good byes or have a great day or have any solutions, she just hung up at the end of the conversation. I want this review to be evidence that if in the event of an emergency I cannot safely enter or exist my property because the Marion council refused to do anything about the parking issues in our neighborhood. This has been on going for years. Deana Scheerhoorn doesn’t seem to care and will not attempt to do anything other than making excuses or suggesting to reverse park into your driveway which cannot be done when we’re packed like sardines on the street. Our safety is not their concern, people parking as close to the masque is.

When there’s an emergency to report, the system is too slow. Can’t upload photos and calling to report takes far too long. Lift your game Marion Council

Absolutely bullocks council, requested 6 weeks ago, council land to be cleaned next to our property, still loads of excuses and not a single calls regarding if they’re gonna come this year or next year to come clean up their mess. My kids are suffering from constant hayfever due to weeded grass being 6 feet tall. I wonder if we don’t pay council rates for 6 weeks, they’ll drag me to the court rooms by then? They came and cleaned the paddock next to our house, but didn’t bother cleaning this side of the walkway ( still council land ) $225 million they earn a year from rates, but not gonna spare 3 hour job to clean up the mess.

The council workers seem ineffective in addressing an ongoing issue. I have reported illegal parking twice concerning a large vehicle—an SUV with a trailer attached—parked on our street. Despite the reports, the vehicle owner continues to do this during weekends and overnight on weekdays, causing road visibility obstruction and creating safety concerns. The Marion Council parking inspector only comes after 9 am on weekdays. By that time, the vehicle owner separates the car and trailer, making the situation appear legal. Guess what the parking inspector does? He texts me a photo of the separated trailer and informs me that is all good and legal. Seriously? Does the Marion Council truly believe that if they do not respond to problems over the weekend, the vehicle owner will wait until Monday morning to act? This attitude is frustrating and unacceptable. It effectively allows people who disregard community standards and disrespect their neighbors to act without consequence during weekends, while the Council only wakes up and addresses the issue on Monday and declares it all fine. Is this really the standard we are accepting now? *Added* Dear Council, In response to your claim below that “the area continues to be proactively monitored, including over weekends where possible,” I have to ask where exactly has this “proactive monitoring” been over the past two years? For the entire duration of this ongoing issue, the vehicle owner never once detached the trailer—not on weekdays, not on weekends. That only began three weeks ago, right after I reported it first time to the Council. So if monitoring was actually happening, why was this parking violation not noticed or addressed until I personally pointed it out? Frankly, the idea that this street has been “proactively monitored” feels completely disconnected from reality. Either the inspections were not occurring, or this location was consistently skipped. Your statement that “Council can only take enforcement action when a vehicle is found to be illegally parked” only reinforces my point that for two years, the illegal parking went unnoticed until a resident stepped in to do the job your inspectors were supposed to be doing. Clearly, the current approach is ineffective, especially when offenders can easily work around your inspection schedule. The system in place right now doesn’t prevent the problem—it enables it. If someone block someone's driveway on the weekends, are you again coming only on Monday? I would also like to add that the woman who owns the trailer has three cars and two trailers. She resides on a subdivided block that is approximately nine meters wide. It is evident that she cannot manage such a large number of vehicles and therefore leaves two cars and two trailers parked on the street permanently. These vehicles occupy nearly 20 meters of public street in front of other people’s houses, preventing its use by visitors and other residents.

Marion Council never fails to deliver. 5 years in my area and most if not all request has been attended to. Each council employee I've spoken to attending to the job has always been professional, friendly and accommodating. This Council stands out from the rest in my opinion. Keep up the great job and thank you, thank you.
