Spare Thoughts Landscape Design — Garden Design in Glen Waverley, VIC

2 years ago, I visited the Cranbourne botanic gardens in and was thoroughly convinced that I needed to create a native garden on my property. Through my search for a specialist, I found Spare Thoughts and Ayush. The mandate was to try and create elements of the bush and incorporate native edibles. Ayush patiently listened to my ramblings (spread over many weeks!) and was able to take all of that and distill it into a cohesive design and a plan. I also found his eager desire to teach me all about the plants that he was planting very refreshing and contagious! He not only left behind a self sustaining garden, but also left behind a more knowledgeable, self sustaining gardener! I have had a great experience working with him on this project.

I presented Ayush with a bit of a mess in a new house we had bought. The builder had obviously not troubled himself to get the rear area done properly, and the "lawn" was 50% weeds and the garden beds and paths overgrown with weeds. I am delighted with the rectification works that have been carried out by Ayush, both in the cleanup work and also design ideas he implemented to minimise the weed problems. I have found him to be honest and reliable and would have no hesitation in recommending him.

We engaged Ayush and his team (James and Josh) to work on our backyard which included turf replacement, constructing a custom barrier deck with downpipe, timber access gate, aluminium balustrade and other repairs plus sprucing up the garden. Ayush is very creative and a problem-solver, no problem is too big for him and his team. We have very specific requests on how the custom barrier deck was to be built and he would provide a few recommendations. They are very detailed in their work and attentive to clients’ needs. They keep the place clean and neat after work each time and are truly dedicated and passionate about what they do. They have great botany knowledge and would propose plants to plant and used quality materials when possible and work within our budget. Our initial contract was just for them to work on a few things in the backyard and because of the great workmanship, we got them to work on other areas of the garden. The other aspect we like about this team is the attempt to recycle when possible and practising sustainable gardening. Eg, we had some chopped branches and they reused that as part of our landscaping deco. A very humble team who we would not hesitate to recommend to our friends/family.

Ayush and his team (Joshua and James) were amazing in getting the landscaping concept that we wanted and making it into reality. Their work ethics is second to none ensuring all work for each day is completed satisfactorily and of high standards. Even after late changes were made to the design; they carried on with the work without a quibble despite setting this back a couple of hours. Ayush was very informative and educational with regards to plant selection and what will and won’t work for our garden. Spending a few hours down at the nursery with us to pick out the plants. A follow up inspection was made by Ayush to ensure everything was going well with the plants and the automated irrigation system. I would recommend Spare Thoughts Landscaping Design and expect nothing but good old-fashion quality service and workmanship. You can tell their love is first for the nature and the environment and business is second.
