Just called up to ask a simple question about their van hire service, I was on hold for ages to then get transferred between different departments for 5 minutes until they hung up on me. 2 stars because in-person I've found their staff to be very helpful.

I had a very disappointing experience returning a rental van at Bunnings Warehouse on March 8 at 8:00 am. I rented a van the day before and arrived exactly on time to return it and avoid extra charges. Charlie, the staff member assisting me, was doing his best, but he was the only person there so the process was slow. During the inspection he noticed some “P” letters on the van and asked if they were mine. I explained they were already there when I picked up the van the previous day. At that moment another staff member named Courtney approached and immediately started accusing me in a very rude and confrontational way. She repeatedly said that I was lying, raised her voice, and insisted that she personally received the van the day before and that those letters were not there. I calmly suggested that they check the parking cameras to verify the situation. She responded very aggressively saying she would check because she “knew I was lying.” After waiting around 45 minutes, Charlie received confirmation that I was telling the truth and that everything was fine. Despite this, Courtney never came back to apologize for falsely accusing me. Being delayed was frustrating, but what was truly unacceptable was being called a liar in front of others without any proof. As a frequent Bunnings customer who regularly rents vans and buys materials and tools, I expect to be treated with respect. This situation could have been handled much more professionally.

I’ve been coming to Bunnings Hawthorn for years now, and the team here have always been absolutely amazing. Every visit is welcoming, helpful and genuinely friendly – which is why I keep coming back. Today was extra special though. Two absolute legends, Penny and Dylan, went above and beyond and made my youngest son’s day. They introduced him to an awesome Bunnings T-shirt and made him feel like he’d just become an official “Bunnings hold on” ambassador 😊 The excitement on his face was priceless! It’s little moments like this that turn a simple trip to the hardware store into a beautiful family memory. Thank you Penny and Dylan for your kindness and for making our day – you’re both superstars! 👏

I visited Bunnings Hawthorn to purchase potting mix and accidentally selected the 50L bags instead of the 25L ones, which were much heavier than I expected. While I was struggling, a staff member named Luca noticed me. Even though he was busy with other tasks, he immediately stopped what he was doing and came over to assist without hesitation. He kindly helped me load the bags onto a larger trolley. I also observed Luca assisting other customers with the same enthusiasm and willingness to help. Thank you, Luca, for your excellent customer service. Your kindness and proactive approach truly make a difference to customers like us.
